E-Scooters made legal

It will be legal to use E-Scooters on Irish public roads from next week under new regulations.

However, it is important to note that children aged under 16 will be banned from using electronic scooters in a public place.  The regulations will also ban the fitting of seats to electronic scooters as well as modifications in any way that compromises the E-Scooters safety or allows a driver of an E-Scooter to increase the maximum speed to the scooter.

The regulations also set the speed limit for electronic scooters to 20 kilometres an hour for all users on public roads.
