Parental Alienation

Justice Minister Helen McEntee has stated that she is to seek further reforms to ensure that issues like parental alienation cannot be the central part of any decisions when deciding on access and custody issues.

A report commissioned by the Department of Justice published over a year ago, warned that parental alienation is a highly controversial concept and use of the term in Irish legal settings should be treated with serious caution.

It will be interesting to see how the Minister intends to tackle such a matter as parental alienation has become prevalent in many family law cases..
