Protecting Vulnerable People

Ireland is to ratify Articles 8.3 and Article 27.1 (c) of the revised European Social Charter. The Articles give specific emphasis on the protection of vulnerable persons such as elderly people, children, people with disability and migrants in regard to employment, housing, health and education.

They provide a number of amendments, including providing nursing mothers an entitlement to sufficient time off from work to breastfeed.

The Articles also includes provisions that should develop or promote child daycare services or other childcare arrangements.
