Eoghan O’Sullivan joined Powderly Solicitors LLP in March 2024 as a Partner. Eoghan joins the team with over 10 years experience working in Criminal Defence and Childcare Law in Dublin and across the Country.  He qualified as a Solicitor in December 2017.

Eoghan joins the firm with a vast experience in Criminal Defence, particularly in relation to Juvenile Justice. Eoghan represents clients on a daily basis in the Dublin District Courts. He has experience in working on serious cases and criminal trials before the Circuit, Central and Special Criminal Courts in Dublin as well as around the country circuits. He has advocated for his clients constitutional rights through Judicial Reviews and challenges under Article 40 of the Constitution.

Eoghan also has vast experience advising clients who have been detained in custody in Garda Stations for the purpose of Garda Station Interviews of their constitutional and legislative rights.

Eoghan also acts for clients in respect of Child Care proceedings throughout Ireland for both parents seeking the return of their children to their care but also the voice of the child through their court appointed Guardian ad Litem. He has represented clients in emergency, interim and care order applications involving the Child and Family Agency.

Eoghan graduated from Dublin City University with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Economics Politics and Law in 2012, focusing mainly on the legal aspects of the Degree. Eoghan completed a Masters in Law (LLM) from Trinity College Dublin in 2013, studying modules based on employment law, arbitration, dispute resolution and criminal law. His dissertation focused on criminal assaults during sports matches and was entitled “An Analysis of Sports Violence and the Law, with specific reference to the GAA, and whether there is a need to introduce or modify current laws or by-laws on the matter”.

Upon completion of his Masters, Eoghan interned in the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, within the Prosecution Policy and Research Unit where one of his main projects was the updating and consolidation of Pre 1922 criminal legislation.

Eoghan has a keen interest in criminal law, juvenile justice, childcare law, human rights law and employment litigation.
